Echo name: Written in greek, κυνηγός, and in roman characters, Kyni̱gόs. This is for short; Kyni̱gόs, meaning "huntress"; her full title is "af̱tí̱ pou kyni̱gá ti̱n av̱gí̱" meaning roughly, "she who hunts at dawn."
Personality:
Although youthful in appearance, Kyni̱gόs is a several centuries old griffon harpy who was the leader of her pack and very much set in her ways. Her people are first and foremost a nomadic tribe of warriors and hunters who place utmost importance on honor, strength, and prowess in a fight. Kyni̱gόs is of no exception: her claim to fame is having slain a wyvern attempting to eat her clan's eggs all on her own. She subsists solely on meat, preferring hot-blooded kills to seafood.
She can come off as standoffish to strangers and emotionally distant as she is not an easy one to become "friends" with. Her peoples' strongest relationships are those created by the circumstances of battle, and only those who earn her respect as particularly brave or blooded warriors will probably ever become people that she considers equals. She does not tolerate cowardice or weakness well, and may in fact come off as cold or savage because her morals, goals, values, and ways of thinking are not always in line with modern or human ways of thinking. She believes in survival of the fittest, and has in the past allowed for some of the inferior offspring and sickly members of her pride to be culled. However, she recognizes that this is a very delicate balance, and often what individuals need is to be gradually honed and trained into their strength as they grow: she was and may still yet be very protective of those that she sees as exhibiting signs of promise or who trigger her "cub" instincts.
She is a deeply prideful individual, however, who values scars over perfection and beauty. While she doesn't mind her ways being questioned by the curious, she does not take insults or mockery lightly. This same pride can make her rigid and awkward when dealing with people, as verbal communication reveals a speech tick that she secretly despises, so she prefers to write by using the same powerful talons she uses for fighting whenever possible. She also has a hard time understanding humor, and is herself serious much if not all of the time. In spite of normally being entirely serious and reserved, Kyni̱gόs has been known to "let loose" after particularly rewarding battle with drinking and revelry; her singing voice is rich and deep and quite beautiful.
Echo Realm: Kyni̱gόs's realm is comprised of a flat-topped mountain plateau edged by impressive cliffs that are split by a gorge which provides an easy and direct ascent to the summit. The flat top of the mountain is often covered by orographic clouds, formed by a south-easterly wind which is directed up the mountain's slopes into colder air. It overlooks a bright blue bay which is currently inaccessible but may become more so later as she gains strength. The mountain's vegetation is primarily made up of natural shrub land on the top, however there are stretches of indigenous forest in the wetter ravines and along the eastern slopes. Along streamlets and underneath waterfalls, a pink, showy orchid blooms in the summer months. Rock hyraxes, eagles, hawks, baboons, buzzards, kestrels caracals, wild cats, tahrs, fallow deer, sambar deer, quagga, and zebra call the slopes home as well. There are also several natural cave systems that have developed in the sandstone in the ridges overlooking the bay which are explorable.
Additionally, a number of semi-sentient creatures from mythology once called it home, and, if given permission and power later on, these might include warring tribes of centaur, man-eating sirens (that populate the bay). The cave systems would be home to a number of deadly creatures: naga, slime creatures, and carnivorous fungi. Aaaand there might be the rare one or two wyvern residing in the forest at the bottom of the gorge, which might occasionally try to scale the cliff heights looking for harpy eggs.
